5 DIY Crayon Projects

1. Candles

Picture
  1. What you need to make these:

  • Dixie Cups
  • Crayons (obviously)
  • Wax 
  • Wicks
  • Votives
  • Popsicle Sticks
  1. Pour a small amount wax into a dixie cup
  2. Put the Dixie cup into the microwave for one minute
  3. Pour this wax into the bottom of the Votive and stick the wick into it
  4. Let it harden
  5. Cut the crayons into small pieces, and place the crayons in, one crayon per dixie cup.
  6. Put wax into the dixie cup until it fills the top, and melt it for 2 minutes.
  7. Stir, them microwave again for 2 minutes.
  8. Pour into the votives, and let the ONE color dry for 20-30 minutes. 
  9. Repeat process until the candle is filled to the top
  10. You're done!:)

2. Canvas

Things you will need:
  • Crayons (Obviously)
  • A canvas
  • Hot Glue & Gun
  • A Hairdryer
  • A plate (Optional)
  1. Hot Glue the crayons to the top of the the canvas in rainbow Order
  2. Wait about 15-20 minutes
  3. Turn the hairdryer on the lowest setting, and blow from the top of the crayon (the flat part)

Tips for This:
  • When melting the crayons hold the Canvas up, because it will prevent the crayon from splattering everywhere. 
  • Melt the crayons over a plate if you are melting to the bottom of the canvas

3. Play Dough

What you need:
  • 2 Tbsp of Oil
  • 2 1/2 Broken Crayons Per Color
  • 2 Cups of Water
  • 3 Cups of Flour
  • 1 1/2 Cups of Salt
  • 2 Tbsp of Cream of Tartar
  • A pan
  • A large bowl
  1. Chop up the Crayons
  2. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients
  3. Heat up the oil in a large pan
  4. Add the chopped up crayons to the pan, and stir until the crayons are completely melted
  5. Stir in the 2 cups of waters
  6. Slowly stir in the dry ingredients
  7. Once all the ingredients ball up, take the dough off the heat, and let it cool down

4. Monogram

Things you need:
  • Crayons
  • Hot Glue
  • Picture Frame
  • Letter Print Out
  • Hard Stock Paper
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  1. Trace your letter onto a piece of cardstock paper
  2. Let the crayons out on the ORIGINAL letter print (Not the one on cardstock paper)
  3. Lay the crayons out, and cut the crayons to fit the letter
  4. Hot glue the inner part of the letter on the cardstock
  5. Lay the crayons on your letter (the cardstock one) and let it dry for a 10-15 minutes
  6. Place it in your frame

5. Multicolored Crayons

Things you need:
  1. Crayons
  2. Cookie, resin or cupcake molds
  • Peel the crayons, and cut them into small pieces
  • Put the crayons in the oven at 150 degrees, and bake for 15-20 minutes
  • Let them cool off, then take them out of the molds
